What’s The Deal, is Colon Cleansing a Scam?
It’s not hard to understand how we as consumers could jump to this kind of conclusion. With multiple ads touting miraculous benefits such as rapid weight loss, sudden increase in energy, clearer skin, etc., our scam-o-meters can’t help to sound.
Before we decide if it’s one big scam or not, let’s first establish a simple truth. The colon has one basic function – to eliminate waste in the form of bowel movements. So it stands to reason if the colon is unable to eliminate waste on a regular basis, there will be some kind of inevitable build-up (similar to a trash-can that keeps getting added to and pushed down because your other-half refuses to empty it out). Because of our Standard American Diet (or S.A.D. for short), the lack of fiber and abundance of processed foods make it pretty challenging for your colon to eliminate waste effectively.
Now if there is a build-up of waste in the colon, don’t you think this would cause some sort of problem?
So we’ve established, by the wonder of common sense, that a build-up of toxins and fecal matter in the colon is not a desirable effect. So what do you do? Well, you can start eating healthy. Increase your fiber intake, add more veggies, eat less bacon Whoppers and start an exercise regime. Hey, that may work to stop any additional build-up in the colon. But wait, what about the existing build-up of hardened guck? Common sense time again – you need a way to get rid of it!
OK, so how do you get rid of that build-up. Through a colon cleanse? Why not. A colon cleanse will break down the old, impacted fecal matter and with adequate water intake will flush it all away, never to be seen again by human eyes.
I hope I haven’t deceived anyone by resorting to a dumbed-down approach as to whether colon cleansing is for real, however there’s only so many words one can squeeze into an article without boring you to death with facts and jargon. The best way of course is to try it for yourself. Make sure you get one with a good return policy, as there’s a few “bad apple” products out there, but that’s another article.
